A Snapshot of Home Decor Trends in the UK
We all spent a lot more time at home last year than ever before and this meant that many of us picked up long-forgotten DIY projects and started home improvements (as well as plenty of banana bread and sourdough starter baking - remember that?).
Next Home carried out some research and one of the areas they looked at was some of the most popular trends for a few of the UK’s counties – from nautical decor to zebra print cushions, you can see some of the most popular searches below. 'Home Theatre' is big in Manchester and Gold Pineapple decor is hot in Essex.

Nicola Burt Interior Design Joins 'Design Havens for Heroes'

I am delighted to have joined Design Havens for Heroes, a charity initiative launched by interior designer Francesca Rowan Plowden to bring together the interior design community to thank our wonderful NHS staff.
The aim is to create havens for accredited NHS key workers who have been working on the front line during the Covid-19 crisis, by offering singular room makeovers to those who will surely need the benefit of rest and calm in their own havens at home after dealing with the emotional and physical demands of tackling the pandemic.
Design Havens for Heroes is a collective formed of interior designers, interior decorators, interior stylists, product suppliers, brands and creators, as well as skilled makers and tradesmen who are happy to donate their time, skills, experience or products. From this we will build teams to work together to provide these Havens for our frontline NHS heroes.

Take a Seat Competition with Nicola Burt, Tom Faulkner & SSLP Schools

I had the pleasure of launching our inaugural “Take a Seat” competition this year, in collaboration with the Southwark Schools Learning Partnership and Tom Faulkner. We tasked Year 10 and 12 students from across 5 schools in the borough to create beautifully designed, ergonomically sound, sculptural and functional chairs for the future. Last night the winner was announced and her winning design was brought to life by Tom's team and proudly put on display. Thank you to everyone involved!
